HARMONIOUS FAMILY, WELL-ORGANIZED HOME, FAMILY PERSON, HOUSEHOLD

Key Concepts: family relations, productive communication within the group (family), inspiring by example, part of the whole, family hearth, mutual love and support

Show openness and sincerity. Contribute to the common cause.

Above is the trigram Xun (Wind), below is the trigram Li (Fire). The metaphorical image of this hexagram is a husband and wife interacting within the family like the forces of wind and fire. In ancient China, it was believed that in a harmonious family, the woman manages the inside (family), and the man – the outside. This is how wellbeing in relationships is achieved. Just as hot air from ignited fire is needed to heat a home, so are the comforting and strengthening words (Wind) coming from the inner spirit (Fire) of each family member.
This inner fire needs to be maintained as carefully as the fire in the hearth. Too few logs will give too little heat, and the family will not want to gather around the hearth. Similarly, meaningless and empty words will not be able to unite people.
Openness and sincerity are necessary for a well-organized family and for a harmonious society. A happy family is based on complementary roles and responsibilities of the father, mother, and children. Every person, family, and group needs a healthy balance of Yin and Yang qualities. Each person involved in any affair needs to know how they can contribute to it. Those who have taken on the role of leaders must inspire others by cultivating love and loyalty to their cause and their followers within themselves.
As the I Ching indicates: "When Fire burns, Wind is born by itself, so Wind and Fire are one family. The wise ruler, observing this, realizes that Wind and Fire are always combined. The life (birth) of Wind necessarily arises from Fire. In other words, the perfection of the object arises from itself. If you are correct, people around transform effortlessly."
