TURNING POINT, RETURN
The situation is changing for the better, but don't rush things. Look inward and maintain calm.

Hexagram Structure
The pattern of the sign mirrors the previous one: there the last strong line held at the top, here the first strong line appears at the very bottom, under five broken ones. A single line is enough to turn the whole meaning around — the light is growing again. Below stands Thunder, the beginning of all movement; above, Earth with its pliancy: the impulse is born in the depth, and the outer medium offers it no resistance, only acceptance. Hence the confident tone of the aphorism: the return is taking place, there is somewhere to set out to, like-minded people will come. The source stresses two things. First, inevitability: the forces of darkness can no longer hold back the development of the strengthened light, any more than they can cancel the turn of the seasons. Second, tempo: going out and coming in are in no hurry, and the mention of seven days in the Book's language means simply "not at once". Haste would betray the process as artificial. After the sign of disintegration this is the first point of a new cycle: the old is lived out, and creation begins again from the very foundation.
How It Works in Practice
The feeling that you are tangled up is stronger right now than the real obstacles. Nerves are taut, the head turns over complications, while the hindrances feeding that anxiety are in fact of little weight — they will not survive the first persistent attempt to sort them out. The gap between how the situation looks from inside and what it is worth objectively is the chief feature of the moment.
The working formula of the period is simple: diligence and conscientiousness. No special talent or luck is required — with a steady, honest working regime you will deal with the difficulties very soon, without a miracle and without strain. Money the source advises treating in a peasant way: build it up gradually, putting a little aside, rather than counting on one large arrival.
The main thing in the background: you stand on the threshold of serious changes in your fate. A term connected with the number seven deserves separate attention — seven days, weeks or months. Which of the three scales will work is not visible in advance, but one of these stretches will prove a turning point in your affairs, and it is worth tracking.
The direct advice sounds energetic: set off along the new road resolutely and unstoppably. There is no point in looking back and recounting past losses — that stretch is closed. A little more and things will settle; the task of this time is not to angle for advantage or hedge, but to go forward.
Traditional Description
Above is the trigram Kun (Earth), below is the trigram Zhen (Thunder). The metaphorical image of this hexagram represents the realization of renewed energy, represented by bursts of thunder over the sleeping earth. Therefore, Fu is associated with the winter solstice, the day after which the duration of daylight increases. Although the weather remains cold and harsh, seeds of warmth and light begin to germinate. The day of the winter solstice signifies that Yin retreats, Yang grows. The long and cold winter will only recede from this day, days will become longer and warmer. Nature prepares to welcome spring, though not immediately; the process of returning warmth and revitalizing nature has begun. Fu speaks of the beginning of rebirth, good news and favorable changes are on the way, it will get easier.
The imagery of the hexagram indicates that “merchants and travelers do not travel, rulers do not inspect their provinces.” This is explained by the belief of the ancients that human activity is determined by the tendencies of natural processes. Therefore, key moments of the natural cycle (such as the days of summer and winter solstices) should be lived consciously, feeling the solemnity of the moment, turning inward and maintaining calm. Therefore, social activity was suspended on such days, so that the hustle and bustle of external movements did not bring disharmony to the sacred essence of what was happening.
The hexagram indicates that the situation is changing for the better future, so there is no need to rush events. The transformation of the old happens easily, and progressive movement continues without obstacles. This is a return to oneself and one’s understanding of how to act further. The hexagram speaks of a good omen, meaning that the period of problems and misunderstanding has ended, and now an important moment of renewal and unveiling of one’s potential for further movement has arrived.nnnnn

The top line shows the idea overdeveloped: the return degenerates into an attempt to rebuild the past mechanically, just as it was. Such a straying return gets the harshest assessment in the source — misfortune, troubles both personal and elemental: a moral error answers back in the outer world, microcosm and macrocosm being bound together. A defeat on this road is not won back quickly — for ten whole years any campaign will stay impossible. A living movement forward cannot be replaced by a copy of what has passed.

The fifth position is the summit of the process. The return to truth is made freely, without external propping and without remainder: a person gives up their errors not under pressure and not halfway, but by their own decision and entirely. The position is so firm that doubts about the outcome are superfluous — there will be nothing to repent of. Of all six steps this is the only one where the return happens easily, fully and finally at once.

The fourth line stands surrounded by weak ones and has to go alone: among its companions there is no one to share the road with. The support here is not in people but in the acts themselves — the movement is checked by the rightness of every step and backed by everything worked out before. The solitude of this step is not tragic, it is simply a condition of the task: the goal is reachable without a direct alliance with others, if the right line is kept without concessions.

The third position is a crisis, and the return goes roughly here: a step forward, half a step back, with waverings and breakdowns. That very brokenness makes the position genuinely dangerous — the source does not soften its verdict, calling it dreadful. And yet there will be no censure: the general current of the situation works for the return, and even a stumbling movement in the right direction stays a movement in the right direction. The price is high, but direction matters more than smoothness.

The second step is a return after a deeper straying, and still the source calls it beautiful. The beauty here is in proportion: the reason accumulated earlier and the new living step of knowledge work in concert, neither suppressing the other. The balance of the position itself — the middle of the lower trigram — reinforces the person's inner balance, and so the outcome promised is a happy one. The return succeeds not by a jerk but by accord.

The first line describes the cheapest form of correction: a person turned the wrong way but noticed it a few steps on and came back before the departure had become a fate. The matter had no time to ripen into repentance — which is why the outcome is called an original good fortune. Such a turn takes no great effort; the experience already gathered is enough. A full return, carried through to the end, redeems the slip entirely on this step: neither a debt nor a trace of it is left.
The six steps sketch a single scale — how alive the return remains. The sooner the straying is caught, the cheaper the turn: at the threshold it is almost free, midway it calls for balance, in crisis for patience with one's own breakdowns, in solitude for fidelity to one's acts. The summit is a free and complete renunciation of the error. And the one truly ruinous variant is to take restoration for return: the past serves as experience, but not as a blueprint for the future.
